Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has brushed off questions about a spat between himself and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, after the state leader criticised the federal government's approach to housing.

Speaking at the launch of a new initiative on Wednesday, Mr Albanese dismissed suggestions there was a divide between his plans and those of Mr Minns as both leaders hailed the construction of more social and affordable homes in the state.

Both men said they were focused on unlocking more social and affordable housing at the launch of a new initiative, which will see more than $600 million spent on projects which are ready to build in order to speed up the supply of new homes.
