The NSW Labor leader says sell-offs of the state’s roads and power assets have “smashed” family budgets
NSW Labor leader Chris Minns has ratcheted up anti-privatisation rhetoric ahead of the expected announcement of an energy policy involving a new state-owned entity to invest in power assets.
Mr Perrottet announced that householders who check if their energy provider is giving them the best deal would collect a $250 government cash bonus.Mr Minns said the announcement was an “admission” that Coalition privatisations of energy assets including the state’s poles and wires had failed consumers.
The NSW government owns electricity infrastructure giant Essential Energy, and 49 per cent stakes in Endeavour Energy and Ausgrid, as well as full shares of Sydney Water, Hunter Water, and infrastructure assets including Northern Beaches Link/Western Harbour Tunnel and the F6 Extension.
