NSW Labor leader Chris Minns has hit out at the state government for deciding to limit the reporting of coronavirus exposure sites in metropolitan Sydney as the city continues to battle a relentless outbreak of the highly contagious Delta strain.

NSW recorded 452 local coronavirus cases and an additional death on Tuesday, as Premier Gladys Berejiklian warned the daily numbers are likely to “rise substantially”.

Of the new local cases, 129 are linked to a known case or cluster with 105 being household contacts and 24 identified as close contacts.State Opposition leader Chris Minns has slammed NSW Health’s decision to stop listing every coronavirus exposure site in metropolitan Sydney. “Based on experience gained during this outbreak, NSW Health has revised its follow up process for venues attended by cases to focus contact tracing efforts on venues where there is an increased risk of transmission,” the spokeswoman said in a statement. “The revised process also streamlines and simplifies communications, making the response faster as well as more focused. It is critical people continue to check in to all venues using QR codes if leaving their home for essential goods or services.”

Anyone who attended the venue during that time must get tested and isolate for 14 days since they were there, regardless of the result.
