There’s been a significant drop in HIV cases in Queensland in what’s being described as a “modern miracle”.
New figures from Queensland Health show HIV cases have dropped by more than 37 per cent. Health experts credit an increase in sexual health tests, both in specialist clinics, and by GPs.
There's also been a breakthrough in preventing the virus developing in some 'at risk' people with some being given the drug 'pre-exposure prophylaxis' or PrEP, which essentially stops the onset of HIV. Image: Getty
