Huge demand for the tradie voucher stimulus scheme saw Labor's spend balloon to $100 million. But the NT is deeply in debt, so millions will come from funds that were set aside for new public housing.
Four new homes have been built in Palmerston through the Public Housing Stimulus program and work has now started on 10 new builds in Tennant Creek. The $100 million public housing fund was to cover upgrades and repairs as well as new builds.
The Minister's office said the funding diversion meant new builds would be "delayed" but did not directly respond to requests for clarification about what works were left unfunded by the cut.
