Staff and students of a primary school in Sydney's west and two high schools in regional NSW must self-isolate after members of the school communities tested COVID positive.

"The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health have been working closely to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained."This work has included identifying close contacts of the confirmed case and communicating directly with them regarding their requirement to self-isolate."The health alert for Blacktown North Public School marks the third primary school in Sydney's west to have links to a COVID-19 case.

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant urged all residents to take the current crisis seriously, simply stating: "these case numbers are too high"."I cannot stress enough the seriousness of the current situation, and my grave concerns that these case numbers will continue to escalate. "Significant police resources were used to break up that gathering," NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Mick Willing said today.

NSW Police said 31 fines were handed out to young people having an illegal party on the rocks at Clovelly Beach.Premier Gladys Berejiklian said yesterday's record-breaking number of new cases were a point of alarm for residents who may have not been taking the outbreak seriously.
