The number of cases linked to the outbreak which began on June 16 is now 7752 and the number of deaths in that time is 47. Since the pandemic began, 103 lives have been lost in the state

NSW has reported 415 cases of COVID-19 and four deaths on Sunday, taking the state’s death toll from the pandemic past 100.

Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said: “These case numbers are too high. We need to see these case numbers go down, and we all have a part to play. The Premier said: “We will be targeting 16 to 39-year-olds in those local government areas of concern. Those are the ones who are mobile because of their work. Those are the ones who crossed three generations, and those are ones were part of the 70 per cent of cases we are currently experiencing in those problematic areas.”

As the entire state enters its first full day of lockdown, NSW Health released 25 new venues where people infected with COVID-19 have visited recently including supermarkets and chemists in Dubbo and the central coast. Two schools were identified, including a special education school in Blacktown. From Monday, all Greater Sydney residents will be restricted to their local government area or five kilometres from home for shopping, exercise and outdoor recreation.
