The state conducted a major policing operation for Australians heading to the state's snowfields this year for Operation Eastern Snow.
Among the other offences were 233 heavy vehicle offences, 72 unregistered cars, 23 seatbelt offences, five drink drivers and nine drug drivers. Michael Cirksis, Eastern Region Road Policing Acting Inspector, said locals around the snowfields also noticed a significant improvement on the roads this past season.
"Local residents and businesses have reported less speeding through towns and generally better driver behaviour by those travelling to and from snowfields like Mt Buller, Falls Creek and Mt Hotham."
