More than 200 workers at a company making sausage skins will be balloted in a dispute over pay.

MORE than 200 workers at a company making sausage skins will be balloted in a dispute over pay.manufacturer Devro Ltd, who supply sausage skins and casings to a number of clients including the Richmond brand.

Unite's production and maintenance members have rejected a pay offer from the Moodiesburn-based company, which they claim amounts to 3% for 2023.The ballot will open today, February 16, and closes on Thursday, March 9. If the ballot is successful, strike action and an overtime ban is expected to take place within the period from late March.

Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary, said:"Devro’s pay offer is substantially below the current cost of living, which means it is a pay cut and completely unacceptable to our members. "Devro can easily afford to pay better and it should do exactly that. It must table an improved offer or face strike action in the coming weeks.A spokesperson for Devro said:"We are currently working with the Union to reach a satisfactory resolution."
