A mother in her forties has drowned at Pebbly Beach on the South Coast of NSW on Tuesday.
Mother drowns at Pebbly Beach on the South Coast of New South Wales while trying to save daughter struggling in the surf A mother has drowned at a popular beach near Bateman’s Bay on the NSW South Coast after entering the water to rescue her daughter.
About 1pm two surfers pulled the woman from the water and onto their boards. The two surfers performed CPR on the woman before the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter arrived at the scene to assist with transporting her back to land. Picture: Google Maps Surf Lifesaving NSW chief executive Steven Pearce emphasised the danger of swimming at a beach without lifesavers. “All of the 14 coastal drownings over summer have occurred at unpatrolled locations. It’s important we focus on education, early alerting to incidents and equipping our lifesavers with the tools they need to respond quickly,” he said. “Lifesavers and lifeguards do an incredible job, so our focus needs to turn to how to prevent people drowning when we can’t be there to prevent these tragedies.”
