The project would have restored Wythenshawe's 'Astrodome'
A plan to build a multi-storey airport car park next to the old Wythenshawe bus depot has been blocked by planners.
The firm had planned to also ‘restore the former Wythenshawe Bus Garage to a condition that would reflect its historic significance in so far as it is achievable’. The 1940s grade-II* listed building is now known as The Astrodome, according to planning documents, and is used for indoor car parking. The restoration would have involved ‘re-covering the roof, replacing the windows and reinstating front entrance doors, undertaking essential repairs to the concrete frame and general repairs to the rainwater goods, render, and boundary treatment’.
