Lancashire mum found seriously injured in car with baby as man charged with kidnap and strangulation
A Lancashire man is facing kidnapping and wounding charges after an injured woman and a baby were found inside a car.
The woman, 26, remains in hospital in serious condition 10 days after police stopped the car and found her with a head injury. The 16-month-old boy was not injured. Police were first called to an address on Brierfield, Skelmersdale, in the early hours of November 14 to reports of concern for a missing woman. That led to a search and officers stopped a car in Merseyside in which they found both the missing woman and the baby boy.The driver of the car was arrested at the scene, police said. Nathaniel Corkish, 31, of Lindens, Skelmersdale, was later charged with wounding, kidnap and strangulation.
He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on November 16 and was remanded until a Preston Crown Court appearance on December 14. According to neighbours, a police presence remained outside the Brierfield address for around a week after the incident. A Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson said: "A police investigation is on-going and officers have been at an address on Brierfield as part of our enquiries.
