Claire Inglis, a mum-of-one, was murdered by her violent ex in November 2021.
The shattered parents of murdered Claire Inglis spoke of their “hell on earth” after her violent ex was convicted of her brutal killing yesterday.
He had been freed on bail to stay at her flat just weeks before the killing - described by a judge as a “brutal and bestial killing of staggering cruelty and depravity”. After a seven-day trial at the High Court in Stirling, a jury of nine women and six men took less than two hours to find him unanimously guilty of Claire’s murder.Claire’s father Ian said: “Hell won’t be full until Christopher McGowan is in it.
“For him to have inflicted that amount of injuries on her and then try and claim self defence in the beginning - he’s a rat. An utter rat.” Five days before the killing, he received a community payback order, including a curfew requiring him to stay in her flat at night. He was also subject to four other bail orders at the time had been jailed for 21 months the previous year for threatening to “do in” a cop with a six-inch blade.
When they got to St Ninians, Claire got out and McGowan bawled: “Mind get the money, f**king cargo, and the Dragon Soup.” Then he said: “I’ll f**king kill ye.” The flat was in disorder and scattered round Claire’s body were several acrylic nails, torn off as she tried to defend herself. A screwdriver McGowan used to inflict multiple “dot” abrasions on her right cheek and right upper forearm, and two lighters.
