A mother-of-three has revealed how she saves hundreds of dollars around Christmas time, by bargain shopping and rewrapping old toys.
That is, unless you are UK mum Catherine Lofthouse, 40, from Leicestershire, who shells out practically nothing.
She said: “My biggest saving was the robot, but I also got a brand new Horrible Histories jigsaw for free from a neighbour and a bucket of Meccano Junior for just £4 , which I later spotted for £20 in Aldi.“When each lockdown lifted, I went straight to the charity shops to see what bits and pieces they’d had donated since my last visit.
“My husband spent his spare time fixing the bits that were broken and we set it up in the living room, ready for Christmas morning.Catherine puts the cash she saves towards days out or holidays – and is taking her kids to [UK holiday camp] Butlins just before Christmas this year,” she said.
