Jasmine Hartin says the death of Superintendent Henry Jemmott, who was shot in Belize, was a “horrible accident” – insisting her “heart is clean” despite being charged with manslaughter by negligence for his death.

Ms Hartin was found nearby with what police describe as blood on her arms and clothing.

“I am definitely not a murderer and I am being set up … this is terrifying,” she told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan. Ms Hartin is the former partner of billionaire Lord Ashcroft’s son, Andrew Ashcroft, with the two currently engaged in a custody battle over their five-year-old twins. “I just need to really live for my children and to fight for my life right now, I don’t really have the energy to convince people otherwise.”
