Nationals MP George Christensen claims he is the target of a 'smear campaign' over his travel, as records reveal he spent 294 days in the Philippines during a four-year period. The government backbencher also spent more days in Manila than based in Canberra for parliament in 2016 and 2017, The Herald Sun reports.
The Queensland MP said he had travelled to the Philippines to visit his fiancee and her family several times since 2017 and had sent her money, while also helping to raise funds for a charity providing disabled children with wheelchairs.
