Freedom Care Group, a disability service provider in Sydney, has been permanently banned from providing services after being found guilty of fraud. The NDIS Commission conducted a thorough investigation that revealed the organization had submitted nearly $340,000 in false claims for services never rendered to individuals who were incarcerated.

The NDIS Commission has permanently banned Freedom Care Group, a disability service provider based in Sydney, from providing services to people with disabilities. This action comes after a comprehensive investigation conducted jointly by the NDIS Commission and the National Disability Insurance Agency revealed widespread fraud within the organization.

The investigation uncovered that Freedom Care Group had submitted almost $340,000 in claims for NDIS services that were never delivered to individuals who were incarcerated at the time. The NDIS Commission, which serves as the watchdog for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, emphasized that Freedom Care Group's actions violated the NDIS Code of Conduct. This code mandates that providers operate with integrity, honesty, and transparency. NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner Louise Glanville asserted that the Commission would utilize the full extent of its regulatory authority to hold service providers accountable for any breaches of the law.Commissioner Glanville stressed the Commission's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the human rights of individuals with disabilities and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure disability support services. She emphasized that all NDIS providers, regardless of their registration status, must adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct. Glanville stated that the Commission would take decisive action against any providers who fail to fulfill their obligations to NDIS participants. She characterized Freedom Care Group's conduct as posing significant risks to both NDIS participants and the integrity and financial sustainability of the NDIS. The systematic and dishonest nature of the violations strongly suggests that Freedom Care Group is not a suitable provider of support services for individuals with disabilities
