A regional NSW care service is facing criminal charges over the death of a disabled woman who suffered burns to up to 40 per cent of her body in a bathtub.
SafeWork NSW has brought criminal charges against a regional NDIS provider over the death of a 28-year-old Indigenous woman.Criminal charges have been brought against a New South Wales disability services provider over the death of an Indigenous woman who suffered burns to up to 40 per cent of her body during a bath. Kyah Lucas , 28, died in Concord Repatriation Hospital in February 2022 from injuries she suffered at her home in the state's Central West.
SafeWork NSW has laid charges against National Disability Insurance Scheme provider LiveBetter under the Work Health and Safety Act.It is the highest category of breach involving a company that through gross negligence or reckless conduct is accused of exposing others to a significant risk of death or serious injury.
LiveBetter has also been charged with failing to immediately notify the regulator of a notifiable incident.She was non-verbal and had multiple disabilities and health conditions that made it difficult for her body to regulate her temperature.
