A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting an international student in Western Sydney . Emergency services were called to a home on Odelia Cres in Plumpton just after 11.40pm on February 5 following reports of an assault. A video posted online captures the moment of the alleged attack, showing a confrontation between the 40-year-old neighbour and a group of Pakistani students.
In the video, the neighbour can be seen walking onto the driveway before repeatedly demanding the students “stop the f***king noise” and accusing them of keeping his family awake. The man holding the phone tries to talk to the neighbour holding the pole, telling him his mother had been calling him. The situation escalates and when another man walks out of the home towards the neighbour, he is allegedly struck in the head with a metal pole, smacking into a nearby car as he falls to the ground. After allegedly hitting the 22-year-old student in the head, the neighbour can be seen walking away from the house with the man holding the phone informing him he had filmed the entire altercation before telling a friend to call the police. The alleged victim is later seen lying on the ground holding his head as blood seeps onto the driveway. The next video shows the alleged victim surrounded by police and paramedics as he’s treated for the wound to his head. He was treated by paramedics for head injuries before being taken to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition. The older man was arrested nearby and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with common assault and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, police said. He was refused bail and appeared before Mt Druitt Local Court on February 6. He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Penrith Local Court on April 4
