Netflix has called on one of the world’s top entertainment lawyers to defend the streaming giant against Fiona Harvey’s multi-million dollar Baby Reindeer lawsuit.
The news of his involvement comes after The Record revealed the streaming giant intended to vigorously defend itself against Harvey’s damages claims.He describes the Scots lawyer’s suit as “without merit” and argues the show is NOT a true story.He says Baby Reindeer is fictionalised and that the character Martha is not based on Harvey.
The Global Co-Chair of Latham’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Industry Group has also defended high profile clients in a lawsuit over their endorsements of the crypto exchange FTX.She revealed she had received death threats as a result of the TV show and insisted she had never been to prison.
“The standard is whether someone could conclude that it is her. They claim it doesn’t concern her then go on to point out the similarities.“There is an obligation to disguise her in some way.
