Staff based at Easter Queenslie will move in the autumn to another workplace so site clearance work can begin – in preparation for re- development. The council is pouring £20 million into the Easter Queenslie facility and the Scottish Goverrnment is funding £17 million towards the project. Councillors sitting on the environment and liveable neighbourhoods city policy committee were given an update on the redevelopment on Tuesday.A council officer said: “We will be able to recycle more and different streams of waste than we are currently able to and produce a higher quality of recycled content for other purposes.”
