Developers hope to build a skinny hotel on a relatively small inner-city Brisbane block of land, demolishing a popular lunchtime destination in the process.
, currently houses a single-level building with tenancies including the popular Steamed dumpling shop.In an assessment report submitted to Brisbane City Council, town planning firm Urbicus described the development as a “high-end hotel” with food and drink offerings on the podium level.
A rooftop garden and lap pool would be included, with views over Roma Street to the parklands and the proposed Brisbane Arena. It came with some challenges, not least due to the site’s relatively small irregularly shaped 397-square-metre footprint.“Brisbane City Council have acknowledged the site’s challenges including limited site area and access given the site’s proximity to the Turbot Street overpass,” Urbicus town planner Mark Kierpal said.
