Western Australia's Government has confirmed the new name for the iconic King Leopold Ranges, with the name of the Belgian "tyrant" set to be permanently removed from the Kimberley landscape.
But Mr Wyatt said a collaborative approach, along with work put toward the name change by the previous Barnett and Carpenter governments, had sped up the process."But what has really held it up is acknowledging the status and where things were with the native title process. Leopold II had no ties to Australia and never visited the region, but was chosen by Mr Forrest due to his "interest in exploration".
