Carlos Rodón, Luis González and Kevin Padlo experienced the Giants-Dodgers rivalry for the first time Tuesday night. González got a close-up look at the bleacher hecklers.

LOS ANGELES — Luis González made a rookie mistake. He acknowledged the hecklers.

González stepped into the rivalry a little more than a week since being called up but had spent the entire offseason in the Giants organization. Kevin Padlo, on the other hand, was a member of the Mariners organization this time last month. Playing third base, Padlo was mostly shielded from the worst of the taunts that González and his fellow outfielders experienced.

“I’ve never played in an environment like that,” Padlo said. “It definitely makes the game more fun, more exciting. You’re on edge every pitch, every at-bat matters a lot. The fans are into it. It’s loud. It’s a good place to be.”
