The premier’s first day of a long-anticipated trade mission across the region was overshadowed by the jobs-for-mates fiasco.

The premier’s first day of a long-anticipated trade mission across the region was overshadowed by the jobs-for-mates fiasco, following allegations the former MP hadand had asked for a cabinet submission determining how the role would be appointed to be fast-tracked.

Mr Perrottet also conceded he now had concerns about the way former Investment NSW deputy secretary Jenny West was treated when she was told she had the US trade position before it was rescinded and she was told it would be “a present” for someone else.“Concerns have come to light in relation to how Jenny West’s matter was handled, which obviously I was not aware of. I think it is pretty clear that improvements to the system can be made,” he said.

So far, Opposition and crossbench members of the panel have resisted inviting the former deputy premier to give evidence, ahead of the government and Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade returning thousands of documents relating to the appointment process.
