Stewart was visibly upset as he stood before the dozens of people today, saying he was embarrassed by the cartoon and is "very sorry".
Tremain published an apology on his website this morning saying the decision lacked judgement on his part. When asked if he personally signed off on the cartoon, Stewart said: "I'm the editor, I take responsibility".
