Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a media conference today 38 of the new cases were in Auckland and three were in the capital Wellington."All cases are being transferred, or have been transferred, to a quarantine facility," he said. Of the total cases, 137 are in Auckland and 11 are in Wellington with eight in hospital and none in intensive care.
"The majority of the cases are of Samoan ethnicity and in large part that's a reflection of the largest subcluster, which is one centred around the Assembly of God church," he said. Dr Bloomfield said he expected to see the restrictions take effect and the number of new cases going down this week.
