Olympic icon Sir Chris Hoy has opened up on the moment he had to tell his children that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The British cycling legend first announced he was undergoing treatment in February this year but last month revealed he had known since September 2023 that it was incurable. Hoy, 48, was diagnosed with prostate cancer that he soon learned had spread to his bones. “No symptoms, no warnings, nothing.

“We just tried to be positive and tried to say ‘do you know what, this is what we’re doing and you can help because when I’m not feeling well, you can come and give me cuddles, you can be supportive, you can be happy, you can be kind to each other,” Hoy said. “I’m sure lots of families do it in different ways and I think there’s no one right approach for anyone. “There’s no one-size-fits-all, but for us I think that was the best way to do it.
