Nine Entertainment boss Mike Sneesby's handling of a tumultuous six weeks at the company has been criticised after he flew out to a European country shortly after announcing mass sackings.

The boss of Nine Entertainment has come under fire for jetting off on a European holiday while the company is still reeling from a number of setbacks. Nine Entertainment boss Mike Sneesby 's handling of a tumultuous six weeks at the company has been criticised after he flew out to a European country shortly after announcing mass sackings.

The company attributed the job cuts to the termination of a multi-million dollar commercial deal with Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, as well as a sluggish advertising market. "Look, I want to put this out there and make it clear. We all need holidays. Everyone needs a break. No one would be critical of anyone taking time off. But he did just announce on Friday 200 jobs were going at Nine Entertainment," she told Andrew Bolt.

The news of mass sackings added further turmoil to Nine's past couple of months, after allegations of inappropriate behaviour against former news boss Darren Wick, as well as the resignation of chairman Peter Costello following an alleged altercation with a journalist at Canberra Airport.
