An alarming new study has revealed almost 80 per cent of provisional drivers aged 16-17 engaged in risky driving on at least one of their 10 most recent trips. 9News
One in five teens who failed to wear a seatbelt or helmet while driving or riding a motorcycle did so every trip.
"Are these young people observing their parents partake in this behaviour and if so, what more can be done to address it?" Ms Hollonds said. This combined with seeing parents act dangerously behind the wheel is something that needs to be addressed, the study found. Despite the national road toll decreasing in recent decades, teenagers and young people still account for a significant amount of people killed or seriously injured on Australian roads according to the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics .
