Non-urgent elective surgeries can resume in private hospitals and regional public hospitals next week, but will remain suspended in metropolitan public hospitals still under the strain of COVID-19 patients.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Premier Dominic Perrottet have announced the resumption of some non-urgent elective surgery.NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said he was committed to a staged return of non-elective surgery, with positive signs that coronavirus hospitalisations were stabilising. There are 2779 COVID-19 patients in the state’s hospitals, including 185 in intensive care. The figure is up by three on those in ICU on Sunday. A further 13,026 new COVID-19 cases and 27 deaths were recorded on Monday.
