North Queensland needs to “close its own border” to the rest of the state, according to Independent MP Bob Katter.
Mr Katter said North Queensland is “contagion free” and the only cases recorded to date have come from South Queensland and the cruise ships. Sky News host Chris Smith said “North Qld needs to close its own borders and block Southern Queenslanders out”.
“I think by the end of this week there will be over 200 doctors who will have signed a document to that effect,” Mr Katter said. “If the government continues to ignore all the medical practitioners in North Queensland then the government is completely irresponsible," he said. Perhaps Gladys Berejiklian ‘would be better off without two of her ministers’ | Sky News AustraliaWhile Australians have been told to stay home and “cancel their Easter holidays” due to strict social distancing regulations, there is one NSW state politician who instead went to his beach house says Sky News host Chris Kenny. \n\nNew South Wales Arts Minister Don Harwin has been caught ignoring the Prime Minister's stay-at-home directive with the Liberal powerbroker pictured staying at his Central Coast holiday house, almost 100 kilometres from his Sydney abode. \n\nThe Minister said he wanted fresh air and his beachside house had more space than his inner-city apartment.\n\nSo, while “we're all stuck in our shells … he's at Pearl Beach,” Mr Kenny said. \n\n“You see one of the problems here is that Gladys Berejiklian could hardly sack Harwin when she's standing by another minister who has delivered the single largest mistake of Australia's pandemic response,” he said. \n\nMr Kenny said the actions, or inaction of NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard led to a higher amount of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as a result of the Ruby Princess cruise ship saga. \n\n“Our results would be at least 20 or 30 per cent better if Brad Hazard had put the passengers and crew of the Ruby Princess into isolation”. \n\n“Perhaps Gladys Berejiklian would be better off without both of them”. \n\nImage: Getty \n
