The Met Office says the aurora could reach NI skies - but there will be limited hours of darkness
The Northern Lights are expected to be visible in Northern Irish skies for one night with the Met Office predicting a strong geomagnetic storm. According to the weather agency it could even cause R1 radio blackouts.
Sky gazers were treated to an intense aurora borealis in May which was visible from much of Northern Ireland and saw enthusiasts across the country capture the event on camera. Almost anyone armed with a smartphone or digital camera can take a picture of auroras in the skies. Experts advise checking the best spots to capture them and whether there will be cloud cover.
