So far this year, 59 people have lost their lives on territory roads — nearly double last year's road toll of 31.It's a steep increase in a jurisdiction that already has Australia's worst road fatality rate per capita, according to the NT's latest Towards Zero action plan. "The sounds of the vehicles themselves, sounds of the family grieving on the side and sounds of witnesses who can't believe what they've just seen."For Darwin parents David and Janet Wilson, the devastation is close to home.
