NRL: The Southern Orcas today announced a formal proposal to be awarded a licence as part of the competition's expansion plans.
NRL players who join Papua New Guinea ’s expansion team stand to pocket millions of tax free dollars after the ARL Commission struck a landmark deal with the PNG government.reported the ARL Commission has landed a landmark expansion tax deal that will see players stand benefit from extra income for playing for the NRL’s 19th team.
The ‘danger money’ will also be offered to staff and officials at the Papua New Guinea team, which is expected to join the NRL in 2028. However, under a tax-reduced Papua New Guinea contract, Cleary could theoretically save $581,628 on the tax he currently pays every year in Australia. Australia’s Federal government has signed off on a $600 million, 10-year funding deal, $290 million of which will go directly to the Papua New Guinea rugby league club.
