New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet says it is a “dedicated priority” of the government to have a minister for women’s safety as he announces an over $100 million contribution to stop violence against women.
“Today’s budget announcement I believe is a very important day in the state of New South Wales,” he said.
“Wherever you live in our great state, you should feel safe and be safe and this investment today of over $100 million will make a real difference to women and young girls right across New South Wales.” Mr Perrottet said the domestic violence statistics were an “absolute travesty” as one in six women will suffer sexual harassment or violence from an intimate partner.
