Anyone caught with fireworks without a licence in the lead up to or on January 26 will find themselves in hot water, Head of SafeWork NSW Natasha Mann has warned. 9News
"Fireworks can cause serious injury or death if not handled correctly, which is why we will take a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to people putting their life and the lives of others at risk."
Mann said SafeWork NSW Inspectors will carry out compliance checks of registered displays across the state in the lead-up to the public holiday. "Anyone selling, buying, storing, transporting or setting off fireworks without authorisation faces fines of up to $27,500 and 12 months in prison."
