Dramatic rise in infections comes as Queensland announces it will drop PCR test requirement for interstate arrivals
, announced on Wednesday that her state would drop its controversial requirement for interstate arrivals to receive a PCR test before crossing the border. Instead, from 1 January arrivals will only need to have a negative rapid antigen test.
Perrottet told Sydney radio station 2GB that interstate travellers were “nudging 30%” of the total number of daily tests in the state, which on Wednesday was 157,758.Photograph: Mick Tsikas/AAP On Wednesday he again urged people not to line up for a test if they did not feel sick, saying most of the centres were at “full capacity” over the holiday period.
