Yanderra has escaped the fire front as southerly winds are pushing the fire towards the town of Bargo. Live coverage of NSWfires: Photos: Kate Geraghty nswbushfire NSWRFS

A convoy of fire trucks has arrived in Yanderra, with crews pulling into the driveways of homes as the sky continues to grow darker and ash starts falling on homes. The home was built by his father 37 years ago, and Mr Dinham is determined to stay and defend the home for as long as he can. He said he was watching television 30 minutes ago, but conditions have deteriorated.

The RFS says the fire is spreading quickly. It is too late to leave for those in the Wildes Meadow, Burrawang and Myra Vale areas, and people are advised to seek shelter as the fire approaches. Fire activity is also increasing at the Upper Turon Road fire, in the Central West. Nearby residents are advised to watch out for embers.Jon Dee, a resident of North Katoomba, says he has just seen a “fire blow up on my doorstep”.He thinks it’s a “totally new fire”, and he has also observed 10 fire trucks rushing towards Medlow Bath in the Blue Mountains. The Great Western Highway has again been closed in an eastbound direction.

He said while full assessments needed to be done, he had received information that one home in Lithgow was "alight and burning" and other building had been affected.
