There is a call for frustrated commuters to be compensated following the Sydney Trains network grinding to a halt on Thursday when one staff member called in sick.
The public transport chaos was sparked by a Sydney Trains staff member calling in sick ahead of their Thursday afternoon shift as a signaller.
Another employee was rushed in but by that time the network was hit with delays of up to one hour and travellers forced onto limited replacement buses. "The Premier and Transport Minister need to step up and be held accountable for what occurred yesterday," she said in a statement. The review will look into the network which in recent years has been plagued by several major delays and safety and infrastructure concerns.
