COVID-19 hospitalisations in NSW have hit a record 1,344 as new infections continue to surge in the nation's most populous states:

NSW on Tuesday reported two deaths and 23,131 cases of COVID-19, a significant leap from the 20,794 infections recorded on Monday. It's a rise of 2,337 from the previous day's tally and has surpassed the peak of 22,577 on New Year's Day.That number overtakes the previous record 1,268 hospitalisations recorded on 21 September during the grips of the Delta variant.
NSW's hospitalisation numbers have increased by 140 on the 1,204 patients hospitalised on the previous day.Fears of another deadly outbreak at Sydney's Newmarch House after worker tests positive Victoria has posted 14,020 infections and two deaths, a massive increase on Monday's 8,577 cases of COVID-19, and two deaths.The state has 108 patients in ICU.
