NSW Premier seeks advice on Barilaro’s US posting | rabe9
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has sought further advice over the process to appoint former deputy premier John Barilaro to a plum US trade posting, saying he’ll “take action” if needed but insisting the recruitment process was independent.less than a year after quitting state politics in a move that has outraged Liberal ministers and backbenchers.
The selection panel report for the New York role, obtained under parliamentary order, reveals the names and interview scores of four candidates who interviewed for the role in July last year. “I don’t think we should jump to conclusions, as long as the process was followed, and there were good reasons behind the decisions. I’ll be satisfied with that,” he said.
“What’s important is that when these processes occur, they occur in a way that’s transparent, independent and the best candidate is filled,” he said.
