Federal and state health officials had a phone hook up on Sunday morning where they discussed how workers could be allowed safely out of isolation.“It is the workforce furloughing which remains the principal challenge at this point in time,” Health Minister Greg Hunt said. Queensland also announced it would ease quarantine for essential workers across a raft of key sectors, including food and grocery production, supermarkets, energy and utilities providers, transport, healthcare and teachers.
“This is a commonsense move to avoid students heading back to primary or secondary school just as the rapidly rising number of Omicron cases in Queensland hits its peak,” Ms Palaszczuk said.Business Council of Australia executive director Jess Wilson said sensible changes that balanced the risk between keeping people safe and keeping critical parts of the economy working were welcomed.
