Staff from three separate Sydney hospitals have been redeployed to Concord Hospital's emergency department to help the hospital cope with a staff shortage caused by a COVID-19 outbreak | rachelclun

Health authorities were investigating whether someone who was at the Eastern Suburbs Legion Club on the evening of August 28 could have been the source of the south-east Sydney infections, a NSW Health spokeswoman said."No known cases were infectious while at the club that evening. However, anyone who attended the Legion Club between 5pm and 6.30pm on Friday, 28 August must immediately get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result," she said.

Two of the new cases reported visiting the Eastern Suburbs Legion Club, and NSW Health investigations revealed the mystery case from south-eastern Sydney reported on Wednesday had also attended the club. "NSW Health is working with the club to identify members who attended at the same times. Contact tracing and investigations into the source of the original infection are under way," the spokeswoman said.

Anyone who attended the club on September 1 from 6pm, September 4 from 4.30pm, September 5 from 4.15pm, September 6 from 5pm, or September 7 from 3pm must get tested and self-isolate for 14 days regardless of their test result. The new hospital cases were both linked to Concord: one staff member, and one close contact of a previously confirmed case. The NSW Health spokeswoman said the staff member was earlier identified as a close contact of a case, and was already in self-isolation.
