NSW records seven locally acquired COVID-19 cases, five from same household
NSW health authorities have confirmed seven new locally acquired coronavirus infections, including a disability support worker in south-west Sydney.A childcare centre in Oran Park has been closed for cleaningTwo of the new locally acquired cases are GPs who worked at the A2Z Medical Centre in Lakemba, in Western Sydney.
Those infections were announced yesterday afternoon and there is still no link to a known cluster at this point.They have been identified as part of the ongoing investigation into four previously reported unlinked cases, including a nurse from St Vincent's Hospital. NSW Health said one of the household cases was a disability support worker who had shifts at three small group homes in the region.One of the cases also attended the Great Beginnings Oran Park childcare centre on October 1, 2, 8, and 9 while infectious.There were also six returning overseas travellers who were diagnosed in hotel quarantine, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 4,106.
Today was also first time since the Melbourne outbreak that NSW has identified more infections than Victoria, which recorded 12 new cases and one death this morning.
