The United Kingdom has reported its first confirmed death from the Omicron COVID-19 variant as Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on residents to set aside the idea it is 'less severe' than other strains.
Omicron has risen to more than 44 per cent of COVID-19 cases in London as Health Secretary Sajid Javid warned it will soon become the dominant variant."While Omicron represents over 20 per cent of cases in England, we've already seen it rise to over 44 per cent in London and we expect it to become the dominant COVID-19 variant in the capital in the next 48 hours."
Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday warned there is a"tidal wave of Omicron coming" as he outlined a new vaccination target of offering every adult in England a booster vaccine by the end of December.
