A man has been found dead after unit fire in Sydney's inner west, while three other people are in hospital. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway. WesternWilson9 9News MORE:
Fire crews were called to the complex on Young St, Croydon, at about 6am after an "explosion" sparked a fire on the ground floor.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry said about 30 people were evacuated from the building, with a couple being assessed by ambulance paramedics and at least one taken to hospital.The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway. "It is a timely reminder that fires happen across all communities, all times of the day," Dewberry said.The street remains closed off and likely will remain so for the rest of the morning and afternoon.
Dewberry said Fire and Rescue would work to support residents who would require alternative accommodation.
