There are just over 25,000 job vacancies but nearly 380,000 unemployed Queenslanders, according to senator Anthony Chisholm who is calling on the Federal Government not to reduce the JobSeeker payment come September.
The Federal Opposition says the Government's plans to reduce the JobSeeker payment rate by September could take the equivalent of 83,000 jobs out of the Queensland economy.Senator Anthony Chisholm says there's currently one vacant job for every 15 unemployed QueenslandersLabor Senator for Queensland, Anthony Chisholm said there were 379,000 Queenslanders currently on unemployment payments but only 25,200 vacant jobs — the equivalent of one job for ever 15 people facing unemployment.
Queensland Labor Senator Anthony Chisholm says more Queenslanders will suffer if the JobSeeker payment is reduced in September. The charity's director, Jason Budden, said he is concerned that if payments were reduced, people would struggle to meet daily needs.
