Pondering their fate at the next state poll in November 2022, the ALP will in the next few months decide whether Andrews is still an electoral asset or a liability.Credit:The virus has tested more than the health system and the role of the states in our federation.

Some of the protesters are unpleasant and violent individuals with absurd fringe beliefs. Some are altruistic hippies who think nature needs defending from the industrial capitalist machine. Some are inspired by sincere, profound religious beliefs, and many display a cult-like reverence for some romanticised fantasy of unfettered freedom.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that Scott Morrison is PM by the slimmest of margins – one seat. The recent NT election saw a return of the ALP, and next there is a state election in Queensland, on October 31. It is fully two years until Victorians go to the polls, but there must be a federal election before then.
