Opinion: Lithium dollars should remain in Imperial County [Opinion]
” : Happy to see another source of wealth-generating activity in the Imperial Valley other than agriculture, solar and wind energy generation, but will the wealth generated go to help those who live and work in that region, because the wealth generated there now doesn’t seem to stay in that community very long?
Also, has anyone thought about using one of the byproducts of this mining operation, the boiling brine brought up from below, to generate electricity to power a mega-desalination plant on the border to help both the Salton Sea and the low-flowing Colorado River? They already have several geothermal plants in the area, why not couple that new lithium extraction boiling brine to help address the water shortage of the Southwest?
